Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz visits Belarus

“We want to develop bilateral dialogue to openly discuss our problems and look for the best solutions together,” said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcin Przydacz, who visited Belarus on 15-17 May.

During bilateral consultations with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Oleg Kravchenko, the deputy chief of the Polish MFA discussed a number of issues related to Polish-Belarusian relations, including the development of political dialogue, the ways to boost economic cooperation, the situation of Polish minority and Polish language teaching in Belarus. The deputy ministers also talked about civil liberties and Belarus’ further cooperation with Poland and the Euro-Atlantic institutions.

The undersecretary of state at the Polish MFA also met with UNDP and UNICEF representatives in Belarus to discuss development assistance projects implemented with Poland’s support. He also visited the Barauliany Children's Oncology Center which is supported by the Polish MFA.

During his visit, the deputy minister also met with Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz, the representatives of Polish minority and Belarusian independent community.

Furthermore, the delegation visited Polish military cemeteries where lay buried soldiers who died in the Polish-Soviet War, including the cemetery in Novy Śvieržań, where restoration work is scheduled to start this year. The restoration is funded by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and will be carried out thanks to the cooperation with Belarusian Ministry of Defence.

On Thursday, Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz took part in a jubilee Stanisław Moniuszko concert at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in Minsk, co-organised by the Polish Institute, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and Warsaw Grand Theatre. Stanisław Moniszko, the father of Polish national opera, was born 200 years ago in the Minsk region.
