10.02.2023

During political talks at the Ministry of External Relations, the officials discussed bilateral cooperation, as well as the political and security situation in Africa and Europe, focusing in particular on the war in Ukraine and how it affects the situation on the African continent.

The deputy ministers also talked about geopolitical changes in the world, including the activity of large countries, such as Russia and China, in Africa. Another important topic was the spread of disinformation in many sub-Saharan African countries. The visit also included the signing of a visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic passports.

During his visit to Angola, Deputy Foreign Minister Jabłoński was accompanied by an economic mission organised jointly with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, made up of representatives of 12 Polish enterprises – exporters of advanced digitisation technologies, as well as from maritime and mining industries.

On 8 February, the Polish delegation held meetings at four Angolan ministries: the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources, the Ministry of Finance, and the Ministry of the Interior, where Deputy Minister Jabłoński met with the interior minister, as well as at the National Bank of Angola.

On 9 February, Deputy Foreign Minister Jabłoński and the secretary of state for foreign cooperation at the Angolan Ministry of External Relations jointly opened and attended an economic forum, which brought together around 100 participants, including 60 Angolan companies.

In his opening address, Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński spoke of a new opening in the Polish policy towards Africa, inaugurated by Polish President Andrzej Duda’s visit to Senegal, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire last year. The forum was organised jointly by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and its Angolan counterpart AIPEX.

The Polish delegation also visited St. Lucas Health Center in Kifangondo, established in 1996 and run by Polish Divine Word Missionaries, and held a meeting at the EU Delegation in Luanda.
