As the 6th round of meetings in this format, the political consultations built on the talks that took place in Warsaw in 2021. They are part of measures to intensify relations after the pandemic, with a focus on the current geopolitical developments and possibilities of leveraging cooperation potential.

The consultations offered an opportunity to discuss bilateral questions, most importantly the cooperation in agricultural and energy sectors. It was noted that Poland can share its knowledge and experience in the digital transition of Algerian public administration and that it has a lot to offer in the field of modern technologies, including banking.

Deputy Minister Jabłoński put forward the Polish position on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The talks also covered Algeria’s role in the region, particularly in the context of terrorist threats and preventing illegal migration. The diplomats discussed the cooperation between Poland and Algeria in multilateral formats, such as the European Union and the League of Arab States.

Deputy Minister Jabłoński laid a wreath at the Martyrs' Memorial in Algiers, designed by Marian Konieczny, a Polish architect. He also visited the tomb of a January Uprising insurgent at a Christian cemetery in the Algerian capital.

On 14 March, Deputy Minister Jabłoński, joined by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Krzysztof Ciecióra, met with Algeria’s Minister of Agriculture Mohamed Henni. The government representatives talked about possibilities of further opening the Algerian market to Polish food products.

On the same day, Deputy Minister Jabłoński discussed the idea of strengthening cooperation in the field of energy, including renewable energy and green hydrogen, with Minister of Energy Mohamed Arkab.

Undersecretary of State Jabłoński was accompanied in Algeria by a delegation organised together with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and composed of Polish entrepreneurs and PKN Orlen Group staff. The delegation held talks at the Algerian Ministries of Agriculture and Energy and met with the representatives of Sonatrach, an Algerian state-owned energy company.

While in Algeria, Deputy Minister Jabłoński launched a meeting of entrepreneurs from the two countries. In his speech, he stressed the record-breaking 2021 bilateral trade indicators (USD 780 million), which already make Algeria one of Poland’s most important economic partners in Africa. Poland could offer Algeria cooperation on food security and energy.

The final stop in Deputy Minister Jabłoński’s visit was an economic forum which brought together several dozen entrepreneurs from Poland and Algeria.
