The talks focused on the status of Poland’s execution of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. During the meeting, the participants discussed in particular implementation stages of rule of law-related judgments that concern violations of the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights in connection with reforms of the judiciary carried out in recent years.

Deputy Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys stressed that the government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk is determined to implement the Court’s judgments. During two and a half months since the swearing-in, the new government has already taken a number of measures to restore the rule of law and to fulfil its obligations under the Convention.

The deputy head of the MFA thanked the Council of Europe for its support so far and expressed hope that the Council will approve of the Polish government’s efforts to implement the ECtHR judgments.
