“We are gravely concerned about the situation in the Persian Gulf. In order to ease the tensions, the US and Europe need to cooperate,” Undersecretary of State at the MFA Marcin Przydacz said during an informal debate of the EU foreign ministers (Gymnich) in Finland’s capital.

The ministers discussed the situation in the Gulf, hybrid threats, developments in the Western Balkan region and Arctic-related issues.

“Poland stresses the need to further develop the EU’s capacities to counter hybrid threats and to strengthen EU-NATO cooperation in this regard,” said the deputy minister.

Speaking about the situation in the Gulf, Deputy Minister Marcin Przydacz emphasized Poland’s engagement in long-term stabilization efforts. He also encouraged the participants to join the Warsaw Process working groups.

When discussing the Western Balkans with representatives of the Balkan Peninsula states, Deputy Minister Przydacz recalled Poland’s activities in the Western Balkan region. They include actions during Poland’s presidency of the Berlin Process this year. “Poland expects the EU to take positive decisions about starting accession negotiations with other Balkan countries in October,” said the deputy minister.

The Polish undersecretary of state also highlighted Poland’s involvement in the Arctic. He stressed that Poland is an Arctic Council observer and that it initiated the Warsaw Format bringing together states with observer status in the Council.
