On 3 October, in his capacity to represent Minister Zbigniew Rau as the Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Undersecretary of State Marcin Przydacz met with Philip T. Reeker, US Department of State's Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations, who also serves as US OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair and lead negotiator for the US delegation to the Geneva International Discussions (GID).

Also present at the meeting were Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, and Ambassador Michael Carpenter, Permanent Representative of the US to the OSCE.

The talks focused on recurring tensions in relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and on the potential for further engagement of the international community, including the OSCE, in the peace process.

"We appreciate the efforts made by the United States and the European Union to bring stability to the region," Deputy Minister Przydacz said.

"At the same time, we are ready to take measures aimed at de-escalation with the use of the OSCE’s potential and experience, if Armenia and Azerbaijan so wish," added the diplomat.

The interlocutors stressed the importance of the meeting between the Armenian and the Azerbaijani ministers of foreign affairs in Geneva on Sunday, as it shows that both sides want to come to an agreement. The parties further emphasised that diplomacy and negotiations are the only means to a lasting peace. The meeting also covered another round of the Geneva International Discussions (GID), which address the conflict in Georgia.
