Deputy Minister Marek Prawda meets head of German Institute of Polish Affairs

Undersecretary of State Marek Prawda met today with Heiko Maas, President of the Governing Board of the German Institute of Polish Affairs in Darmstadt and a former German foreign minister.

The visit of the President of the German Institute of Polish Affairs provided an opportunity to discuss the state of Polish-German relations and issues related to history, including those concerning compensating and commemorating Poland’s WWII victims. The two sides also mentioned the need for further cooperation within the Weimar Triangle as a key strategic tool for the region’s countries.

Another important point involved the progress on the German-Polish House project in Berlin.

In the context of Ukraine, the officials emphasised the urgent need to further support the country, especially as regards missile defence. Lastly, Deputy Minister Marek Prawda drew attention to the significance and urgency of ensuring fair and just compensation for the surviving victims of the Third Reich.
