Deputy Minister Marek Prawda meets with President Martin Schulz of Friedrich Ebert Foundation

Undersecretary of State Marek Prawda spoke today with Martin Schulz, President of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and former President of the European Parliament, and with a delegation of MEPs from the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). The discussion focused on the state of Polish-German relations, possibilities of supporting Ukraine, and current EU agenda.

The meeting with President Martin Schulz offered an opportunity to exchange views on the shared challenges faced by Poland and Germany and to present Poland’s perspective on the current challenges in Europe and the rest of the world. Deputy Minister Marek Prawda shared his confidence that Germany and Poland must build their mutual relations on a constructive and positive foundation in the face of the numerous challenges Europe has been tackling. The participants agreed that the Weimar Triangle should play a major role in strengthening the continent. The deputy foreign minister underlined that helping Ukraine in its fight against Russia is the most effective way to restore security in Europe and maintain the significance of such values as respect for international law and order. In this context, he quoted Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who said that “Poland’s security is Germany’s security”.
