12.02.2020

This year’s first meeting of the Foreign Economic Policy Advisory Board operating under the Minister of Foreign Affairs was chaired by the deputy MFA head Paweł Jabłoński. The representatives of entrepreneur and exporter organisations, BGK, government agencies, as well as business schools and research institutes met to discuss the promotion of the Polish economy abroad.

During the Tuesday meeting, Deputy Minister Jabłoński took stock of the MFA’s efforts to promote and protect Polish economic interests abroad in 2019. He went on to discuss initiatives that the Ministry plans to undertake in this area in 2020, both in different geographical regions and in the context of key events to promote strategic sectors of the Polish economy in foreign markets. Deputy Minister Jabłoński also outlined the MFA’s priority lines of action within economic organisations and international initiatives (including the G20, the IMF, the World Bank or the OECD, and the Three Seas Initiative) which aim to enhance the image of the Polish economy and Poland as a reliable partner and an attractive country for foreign investments. Additionally, Minister Jabłoński pointed to new potential directions for the development of Poland’s economy, such as forging closer economic links with Japan and Brazil.

“The Board’s meeting is an effective consultative instrument that engages key entities which perform tasks to promote the Polish economy in foreign markets,” said Deputy Minister Jabłoński. He encouraged a greater exchange of activities and stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both in Warsaw and through diplomatic missions abroad, remains open to the expectations and recommendations of business circles. “We see the need to constantly communicate and share information. We rely on an open dialogue both with business and self-regulatory organisations, which enables us to effectively support initiatives undertaken in foreign markets.

I hope the Board will be a permanent platform of communication between the MFA and entrepreneurs and other institutions. Today’s meeting is a good starting point for its future activities,” said Deputy Minister Jabłoński.

The Foreign Economic Policy Advisory Board to the Minister of Foreign Affairs is a forum for presenting opinions and sharing information on activities and initiatives related to cooperation with foreign countries. Regular meetings held by stakeholders of the Polish system of economic promotion abroad facilitate the coordination of activities and preparation of adequate support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and economic diplomacy.
