Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński in Davos on Three Seas Initiative prospects

The panel on “The Geopolitical Opportunity and Urgency of the Three Seas Initiative” discussed Russia’s attack against Ukraine as well as cooperation under the Three Seas Initiative and prospects for the format’s further development.

“The Three Seas Initiative can play an important part in Ukraine’s post-war recovery by reinforcing the country’s integration with the EU’s infrastructural and energy networks,” the deputy foreign minister observed. The undersecretary of state highlighted the potential of closer cooperation among the Three Seas Initiative member states in new, future-oriented areas, such as cybersecurity, 5G networks, or more joint action on energy and transport. Minister Jabłoński made a point that the current geopolitical situation has increased the need to work ever closer with countries neighbouring the Three Seas region.

While in Davos, the deputy foreign minister participated in the official presentation of the Kościuszko Institute report on “Three Seas United in Cyber Power”. During his address, the minister observed that the Three Seas Initiative should enhance cooperation in the area of cybersecurity and that our region has the potential to become a global supplier of proven and secure solutions for digital security. He also brought up the matter of a closer interaction required between business and administration in this respect.

Launched in 2015 by the presidents of Poland and Croatia, the Three Seas Initiative aims at strengthening the unity of the EU and the Euro-Atlantic area. The Initiative is composed of twelve Central and South-Eastern European countries, which focus on developing infrastructure links in transport, energy and digitalisation in order to fully unlock the region’s potential.
