Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński takes part in OSCE discussion on enhancing Mediterranean security

“We need a constant, honest and open dialogue to effectively respond to challenges in the Mediterranean region, such as armed conflicts, terrorism and extremism - which have in recent days affected also other European countries - illegal migration, human rights violations and environmental degradation. The OSCE Mediterranean Partnership for Cooperation can be a platform for such dialogue,” Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński said during today’s ministerial video conference on promoting security in the OSCE Mediterranean region.
The conference, organized by the Swedish Chair of the OSCE Mediterranean Partnership, was an opportunity to hold an in-depth discussion on security situation in the region and its possible future development. The OSCE shares experiences with its Mediterranean Partners through an ongoing dialogue and joint initiatives.
Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński went on to say: “On all international forums, Poland has always been a strong supporter of regional engagement in the spirit of solidarity and mutual respect. These were the goals of our actions in the UN Security Council. We seek to share our experiences, bring added value and contribute to sustaining international peace and security. The OSCE Mediterranean Partnership is a useful tool to implement these goals.”
Poland will chair the OSCE Mediterranean Partnership for Cooperation from 1 January 2021. The OSCE has had special relations with its Mediterranean Partners: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan and Israel since 1975, when the so-called Helsinki Act was signed. Poland’s actions within the Mediterranean Partnership will directly precede our taking over the OSCE Chairmanship in 2022.
