Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk on the Three Seas Initiative in Nowy Sacz

“We should treat the Three Seas as an initiative that can bridge the economic gap between us and more developed western states,” Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk said at a meeting “Three Seas. Idea or interest?”

The meeting in Nowy Sacz was part of a series of debates on the achievements of Poland’s foreign policy over the recent forty years.

Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk outlined the historical background of integration formats that Poland has co-organized. He mentioned the Central European Initiative launched in 1991, the Visegrad Group (V4), the Bucharest? format and the Three Seas Initiative. Talking about the Three Seas Initiative, the deputy minister explained that it brings together twelve states making up 22 percent of the potential of European population. He also highlighted that it is a joint initiative of the presidents of Poland and Croatia – Andrzej Duda and Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.

The debate was organized by the Regional Centre for International Debate in Krakow on the sidelines of the 14th Economic Forum of Young Leaders.

The debate cycle “Achievements of Polish foreign policy in 2015-2019” is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Centres for International Debate.
