The meeting in Poznan was another in a series of debates devoted to the achievements of Polish foreign policy over the last four years.

In the opening speech Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk stressed that 125 Polish diplomatic posts around the world work to promote the Polska brand. He summed up the promotional activities implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this year. Among the most important events he listed the organisation of the Western Balkans Summit in Poznan. “The summit, apart from promoting Poland, had another, equally important goal, namely to use significant events organised on a global scale to show the importance of our country on the European and global forum, where Poland is an advocate of the EU enlargement to include the Western Balkan countries,” said Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk. He also mentioned the successful campaign to illuminate the biggest buildings in the world in white and red colours, thanks to which about 90 million people learnt about the 100th anniversary of Poland’s regaining independence. The deputy minister pointed out that the main goal of activities undertaken by the MFA is to deliver the message about the promotion of the national brand outside Poland.

Summing up the meeting, the deputy minister outlined a vision of future activities to popularise the Polska brand. “Apart from being long-term, the goals should also focus on using new platforms such as computer games, digital diplomacy and actions to launch English-language television,” stressed Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk.

The debate was held by the Regional Centre for International Debate in Poznan and was accompanied by the National Book Festival organised by the Polish Gymnastic Society ‘Sokół’ (Falcon) from 27 to 29 September.

The series of debates ‘The Achievements of Polish foreign policy 2015-2019’ are organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Centres for International Debate.
