Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski at GZERO Summit in London
08.10.2026
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski attended the GZERO Summit in London. The head of Polish diplomacy took part in a fireside chat, during which he addressed transatlantic relations, the prospects for peace in Ukraine, and the future of the European Union, among other topics.
At this year’s GZERO Summit, panel discussions were dominated by relations between the US and Europe, including the question of fairer burden sharing among NATO Allies.
The head of Polish diplomacy stressed that Europe’s greater responsibility for its own security does not mean a lesser role for the United States. On the contrary, a stronger Europe may be a precondition for maintaining a lasting and politically sustainable US commitment to European security.
Only a fortnight or so ago, in New York, I described this Russian hybrid war against the free world to the Security Council (…) An American court in New York has charged the perpetrators with organising contract killings. The Russians are doing this to the entire free world, and we must push back against it, and Poland is setting a good example here
said Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski.
Equally important was the question of Ukrainian–Russian relations and the prospects for genuine peace talks to begin. The foreign minister pointed out that a stronger and more resilient Ukraine meant a secure Europe.
I hope that those who criticise helping Ukraine are watching these terrible scenes of attacks on civilians, attacks on civilian objects such as bridges, attacks on ordinary residential buildings. And not only in Kyiv, but also in various other cities. There is speculation that Vladimir Putin has lifted all restrictions on the military, on the Russian air force, and that they are moving towards the kind of tactics that caused dreadful devastation in Syria
added the head of Polish diplomacy.
The topics discussed included the future of the European Union, as well as the challenges and opportunities for the Union as seen from Warsaw. Security was also discussed in the context of hybrid threats and next-generation challenges, such as drone attacks, cyberattacks and widespread disinformation campaigns. The discussion further addressed the growing importance of “middle powers” and Poland’s position in the new geopolitical situation.
The participation of a Polish representative in this prestigious event demonstrates that Poland’s voice matters on the international stage. Our experience and in-depth knowledge of geopolitics are a valuable asset, which we are glad to share with our partners in Europe and around the world.
