Today’s talks concerned the situation in Ukraine and the safety of NATO’s eastern flank in the context of the violation of Poland’s airspace by Russian drones.

The United Kingdom acknowledged that Poland’s reaction to the threat had been appropriate and legitimate and the Alliance’s mechanisms had proved to be working well. Representatives of both countries agreed that the way to stop Russia’s aggression is to increase economic pressure.

During what was their first meeting, Poland’s top diplomat Radosław Sikorski congratulated UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper on her new position.
