First Conference of Polish Diaspora Consuls

12.09.2025

The first ever Conference of Consuls responsible for the cooperation with the Polish community and Poles abroad was held in Warsaw on 11-12 September 2025. Organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event gathered over 100 representatives of Polish diplomatic missions from around the world.

First Conference of Polish Diaspora Consuls

“The Polish community and Poles abroad are an integral part of our national community. We wish their voice to be heard in their countries of residence. We also intend to be more effective in encouraging them to learn Polish and enticing them to return to their homeland—for either studies or work. In a globalised world, we want to shape our relations with the Polish diaspora on a partnership basis,” stressed MFA Undersecretary of State Henryka Mościcka-Dendys.

During the two-day conference, the consuls discussed the most important issues related to diasporic education. The talks covered such topics as promoting Polish language courses, civic education, counteracting disinformation, as well as supporting Polish organisations abroad. Another item on the agenda was the presentation of projects by the Polish Senate, the Central Archives of Modern Records, the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, the Centre for the Development of Polish Education Abroad, the St. Maximilian Kolbe Institute for the Development of the Polish Language, and other institutions engaged in Polish diaspora policy.

Deputy Minister Henryka Mościcka-Dendys pointed out that the support necessary to meet real needs is possible only thanks to the cooperation of every involved institution.

The Conference is an opportunity to work out shared recommendations for further actions and to strengthen the cooperation between consulates in the implementation of programmes targeted at Polish communities abroad.

The goal of the Conference, initiated by the MFA’s Department of Cooperation with Polish Community Abroad, is to create an efficient platform for implementing the new Polish diaspora strategy adopted by the Polish Government on the 1 April 2025.
