Foreign ministers of Poland and Ireland meet

Minister Coveney came to Warsaw to participate in ceremonies to mark the Second World War outbreak.

The ministers agreed that a no-deal Brexit will be harmful to both Poland and Ireland. They highlighted the importance of the Northern Ireland peace process and stressed the need to defend its outcome. The officials also praised the excellent state of bilateral relations and the bond between Poland and Ireland, strengthened by the activities of a vibrant Polish community in Ireland. Minister Czaputowicz said: “Thousands of Poles chose Ireland as a place to live and work. They contribute a lot  to the development of Polish-Irish relations. I thank the Irish authorities and society for their friendly attitude towards Polish nationals.” The ministers also discussed cooperation in international organizations. They talked about the participation of 200 Polish soldiers in the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon as part of the Irish battalion.

Minister Czaputowicz also expressed his hope that relations between Poland and Ireland will receive another impetus after the new Polish ambassador to Ireland Anna Sochańska takes office.
