Foreign ministers of Poland and UAE held a phone conversation

On 14 August 2020, in a phone talk with Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan explained the reasons behind his country’s decision to establish diplomatic relations with the state of Israel. Emirati foreign minister also underlined that halting Israeli annexation plans of the West Bank and returning to talks on the two-state option remain among the priorities of United Arab Emirates.

Minister Czaputowicz congratulated his Emirati counterpart on successful negotiations and voiced his support for the normalization of relations between the UAE and Israel pointing out that it is necessary to enhance cooperation between the countries of the region in order to overcome its fundamental problems, including the impasse in the Middle East Peace Process. Poland welcomed the news of Israel suspending its annexation plans and hopes for a re-launch of direct negotiations.

Minister Czaputowicz also underscored Poland’s invariable opinion that true peace can only be achieved through free consent of both sides. As an EU member state, co-author of the Warsaw Process and a responsible member of the international community, we are ready to support the Israeli-Palestinian dialogue.
