Head of the Foreign Service, Arkady Rzegocki, visits the United States

Head of Foreign Service, Arkady Rzegocki, was with the delegation to the United States. The purpose of the visit was to talk with management of the United Nations, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund on increasing employment of Polish professionals in these institutions. During his visit, Head of the Foreign Service also met with the Director of the Institute of Foreign Service of the Department of State, as well as held meetings with Polish students and graduates of American universities, interested in diplomacy.

Head of the Foreign Service Arkady Rzegocki met with Catherine Pollard, Under-Secretary General for Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance, and with Matteo Sasso, Head of the Junior Professional Officer Programme, to talk about increasing the number of Poles in the United Nations (UN) system.

During his visit to New York, Head of Foreign Service also met Maher Nasser, Director of the Outreach Division, Department of Global Communications, to discuss cooperation opportunities to increase the visibility and recognition of the UN among Polish society, students and business representatives. Head of the Foreign Service also met with Polish citizens employed in the United Nations - Ms Paulina Kubiak-Greer, Spokeswoman for the President of the UN General Assembly, and Jakub Chmielewski, member of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions.

In Washington, the Head of the Foreign Service met Mr Wei Wang, Director of the Human Resources Department at the World Bank and Mrs Catriona Purfield, Director of the Human Resources Department at the International Monetary Fund, to talk about the possibilities of increasing the employment of Polish experts in these institutions, as well as increasing the visibility of these institutions in Poland.

During his visit to Georgetown University, the Head of the Foreign Service met with the dean of the School of Foreign Service, Mr Joel Hellman, to discuss the possibilities of joint trainings for diplomats from Poland and abroad and cooperation with the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this field. The issue of professional training of diplomats and the exchange of good practices was also raised during the meeting with Amb. Joan Polaschik, Director of the Institute of Foreign Service of the Department of State.

During his visit to the United States, the Head of the Foreign Service also held information meetings with students and graduates of American universities and representatives of the Polish Youth Association to talk about the diplomatic and consular training organized by the Diplomatic Academy Ministry of Foreign Affairs and job opportunities in the foreign service of the Republic of Poland.

Head of the Foreign Service also met with employees of Polish foreign missions, both in New York and in Washington, to thank them for their daily work to strengthen Polish-American relations, as well as for conducting effective multilateral diplomacy at the United Nations and their persistent service to Polish citizens and the Polish Diaspora in the United States.
