Interministerial meeting on measures benefitting Polish community and Poles abroad

09.09.2026

Joint measures of the Polish government and the Senate benefitting the Polish community and Poles abroad in 2026 and plans for 2027 prevailed on the agenda of a meeting of the Interministerial Team for the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad. The session was chaired by MFA Secretary of State Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski.

The photo shows a group of a dozen or so people sitting at a table. On the table are microphones, notes, and green bottles. A white door is visible in the background.

Held on 8 September, the meeting brought together representatives of government ministries, the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression, Statistics Poland, and the Senate of the Republic of Poland: Senator Bogdan Borusewicz, Chair of the Senate’s Emigration Affairs and Contacts with Poles Abroad Committee, and Minister Ewa Polkowska, Head of the Senate Chancellery.

The gathering took stock of the government’s Polish diaspora policy priorities adopted in April 2025. The participants emphasised the need for further cooperation and coordination of measures with individual beneficiaries of programmes and calls for proposals for Poles living abroad. They also brought up the significance of the system of subsidising calls for proposals.

The meeting saw a presentation of 2027 budget plans of institutions engaged in cooperation with the Polish community and Poles abroad and an agreement on the direction of further work under the Government Strategy for Cooperation with the Polish Community and Poles Abroad for 2025–2030. A key task for the coming months will be to prepare an analysis and evaluation of the state of play in terms of the priorities and strategic objectives envisaged in the Strategy for 2025–2027. The evaluation will mark an important stage in the implementation of the Strategy and offer a summary of the first three years since its launch. The gathering discussed the guidelines for an interim report.
