Meeting between foreign ministers of Poland and Ireland

“We discussed humanitarian aid measures which our countries have been implementing to help Ukraine. We hope that Ireland will continue to support Kyiv and provide assistance to refugees,” emphasised Minister Zbigniew Rau during a press conference with Minister Simon Coveney.

On 18 March, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau met in Warsaw with Ireland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence Simon Coveney.

The talks focused on the dramatic situation in Ukraine caused by Russia’s aggression and steps taken by Poland and Ireland to address the refugee crisis. The ministers talked about political and humanitarian assistance for Ukraine and Warsaw’s and Dublin’s efforts in this respect. The officials also agreed on the need for enhanced measures, including sanctions against the Russian Federation, both at the forum of the European Union and other international organisations.

During his visit to Poland, Minister Simon Coveney also visited one of Warsaw’s reception centres for refugees from Ukraine.
