At the meeting, ministers stressed the significance and enduring character of the strategic partnership between Poland and Japan since 2015. It is evidenced by advanced political dialogue, numerous high-level meetings, and the growing economic, cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries. Minister Rau expressed satisfaction with an increase in new foreign direct investment from Japan. Bilateral talks also covered the promotion of Polish exports to Japan. “As regards the economy, Poland is particularly interested in attracting even more Japanese investment and promoting Polish products on the Japanese market,” said the Minister.

Poland briefed the Japanese partners on the numerous measures it is taking to support Ukraine hit by the continuing Russian invasion. Minister Rau praised the scale of Japan’s commitment to providing financial and humanitarian assistance to Kyiv. The meeting discussed details of further cooperation in delivering development assistance, humanitarian aid, and the future reconstruction of Ukraine. “We are open to carrying out joint projects for Ukraine, including in the context of its reconstruction process,” underlined Minister Rau encouraging Japanese entities to consider concrete ways of how to partner with Poland in this regard.

Minister Hayashi came to Poland at the invitation of Minister Rau, who visited Japan in May.
