MFA Secretary of State Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski chaired another meeting of the Inter-ministerial Team for the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad. It concluded the first full year of implementing the Government Strategy (for Cooperation with the Polish Community and Poles Abroad) for 2025-2030. The deputy minister pointed to the achievements and presented key directions of the next stages. The discussion also covered the presented results and areas requiring further involvement from the Team.
Deputy Minister Bartoszewski underlined that the Strategy has begun to truly work thanks to the schedules prepared by most of the ministries and to the engagement of the institutions involved. He also presented a wide range of projects carried out by the MFA. They vary from the internship programme “Poland. Business Adventure” through initiatives aiming to mobilise the Polish youth abroad, training courses for Polish community journalists, and expert debates, to the newly launched interactive “Atlas of the Polish Community and Poles Abroad”.
“This tool creates a new chapter in Polish diaspora policy analysis and planning. It will be up-to-date, available, and based on hard data every year,” underlined the deputy head of the Polish MFA. He also discussed areas requiring further action. Regarding university admission, he emphasised the need to facilitate the process for Polish diaspora youth interested in studying at universities in Poland. “We must ensure that young members of the Polish community abroad are not discouraged by procedural barriers. On the contrary, we want to attract them to Poland,” he said. Minister Bartoszewski furthermore noted the need to strengthen the instruments of professional mobility and to create return incentives for Poles educated abroad. He also mentioned the planned amendment to the Pole’s Card Act.
The deputy head of Polish diplomacy concluded the meeting by expressing his wish for the Team to remain a space of cooperation, coordination, and successful implementation of the Strategy for the benefit of millions of Poles living abroad.
