06.03.2020

On 4 and 5 March, the Warsaw Process Counterterrorism and Illicit Financing Working Group held a session in Marrakech (Morocco).

Meeting of Warsaw Process Counterterrorism and Illicit Financing Working Group

Co-chaired by Poland, the United States, Morocco, and Kenya, the session brought together experts from 55 countries and international organisations to discuss how to shape collective cooperation to counter the threat of terrorist groups, particularly al-Qa’ida and its affiliates.

The Working Group has drawn up underlying principles to be followed by the participant countries and international organisations in shaping their counter-terrorism policies and as part of their international cooperation. The principles are provided for in the Working Group Summary Statement.

The Counterterrorism and Illicit Financing Working Group is the seventh working group formed under the Warsaw Process. The Process was launched in February 2019 as a joint initiative of Poland and the United States to address select international security issues in the Middle East.
