Members of the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ Best History Book Prize Committee nominated

On Friday, Minister Radosław Sikorski handed out nominations to the members of the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ Best History Book Prize Committee. The contest aims to honour the authors of the best foreign-language books devoted to Polish history and the best Polish-language books on the history of Polish diplomacy.

Members of the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ Best History Book Prize Committee nominated

The Prize Committee is tasked with evaluating the submitted publications and presenting adequate recommendations to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Committee members’ decision process will be supported by a team of reviewers designated by the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The Committee will be headed by Undersecretary of State Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef. It is composed of representatives of six institutions the work of which focuses on history, international relations, and foreign policy.

The members of the Prize Committee nominated by the foreign minister are:

  • Professor Dariusz Jemielniak, vice-president of the Polish Academy of Sciences
  • Wojciech Konończuk, PhD, director of the Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW)
  • Professor Adam Leszczyński, director of the Gabriel Narutowicz Institute of Political Thought
  • Jan Malicki, director of the Centre for East European Studies, University of Warsaw
  • Laurynas Vaičiūnas, chairman of the Jan Nowak-Jeziorański College of Eastern Europe

Basil Kerski, director of the European Solidarity Centre, was also appointed as member of the Prize Committee.

On the MFA’s side, representatives of the Department of Promotion and Cultural Diplomacy, the Bureau of Knowledge Management and Diplomatic History, and the MFA Spokesperson will take part in the work of the Prize Committee.
