The National Assembly in Venezuela enjoys democratic legitimacy and it is the Assembly that bears the responsibility for starting a peaceful political process. The appropriate step is to call general presidential elections with the respect for democratic standards, as called for by the European Union.

At the moment, maintaining a peaceful character of current changes remains an overarching priority. Poland, acting within the European Union, in cooperation with countries of the region, will strive to foster conditions for peaceful democratic transformation in Venezuela, as demanded by its society.
