The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses strong concern about the so-called referendum vote on amending the RF constitution organised by the authorities of the Russian Federation in the occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and about allowing Ukrainian citizens who hold illegally issued passports of the Russian Federation and who live in Russian-occupied parts of the provinces of Donetsk and Lugansk to take part in this vote.

All activities carried out by the Russian Federation in these areas, which are an integral part of Ukraine’s territory, cannot be considered valid and legal. This also applies to the operation of granting Russian Federation passports to their residents, on the basis of which the so-called voting process is being conducted.

We consistently support Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and, in accordance with United Nations General Assembly Resolution 68/262 adopted on 27 March 2014, we emphasise the lasting commitment not to recognise—now and in the future—the illegal annexation of Crimea and, at the same time, call on the Russian Federation to immediately desist from aggression against Ukraine.
