As is the custom, the meetings are organized by the Foreign Ministry at the end of the year. Today’s event was attended by almost 200 representatives of businesses, business organizations, and central and local administration who actively cooperate with the MFA in the global promotion of the Polish economy. Deputy Foreign Ministers Paweł Jabłoński and Marcin Przydacz, as well as Deputy Economic Development Minister Krzysztof Nowicki, were also among the participants.

Minister Czaputowicz stressed that economic diplomacy is an important instrument of foreign policy which helps support the Polish economy and protect Polish economic interests. It affects relations with foreign partners both at a bilateral level and in multilateral contacts at international organizations. “We pursue our diplomatic work both in Europe and in non-European markets, specifically in Asia and the Far East,” added Minister Czaputowicz.

The Polish top diplomat also highlighted the role of our entrepreneurs in strengthening Poland’s economic position in the world. He said: “Your activities contribute to making Poland more visible on the global economic map, and to making our position stronger.”

In the words of the Polish foreign minister, an increasing number of Polish missions abroad makes it easier to support Polish economic interests. He mentioned the recent reopening of the Polish Embassy in Senegal. Poland opened its embassies in Tanzania and Panama and general consulates in Chengdu, Houston and Belfast. Our permanent diplomatic presence in the Philippines was also restored. “We would like the geographic directions of our diplomatic efforts to reflect the plans of Polish businesses on foreign markets,” said Minister Czaputowicz.

The meeting on Tuesday was an opportunity to present the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ Amicus Oeconomiae Award to honour activists for outstanding merits in promoting the Polish economy and supporting Polish businesses on foreign markets. This year’s winner is Krzysztof Buzalski, Polish Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania, who is also accredited to Ruanda, Burundi, Malawi and Comoros. Ambassador Buzalski was awarded for giving new impetus to Polish-Tanzanian economic and investment cooperation and for supporting entrepreneurship initiatives run together with Polish businesses.
