Peace prospects, European security, and the establishment of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine were high on the agenda for foreign ministers of the majority of EU member states and representatives of the Ukrainian administration in Lviv. The talks were also attended by High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and foreign ministers of Norway, the United Kingdom, Moldova, and North Macedonia.

Organised on Europe Day, the meeting was a sign of united Europe’s solidarity with Ukraine. As Minister Sikorski stressed during his visit, “Ukraine is defending Europe, defending freedom, and we owe it solidarity in this struggle.”

Talks on peace prospects and security were accompanied by the officially announced establishment of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine, affiliated with the Council of Europe. “This meeting is supposed to lead to the establishment of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine. I would like to remind those who are making fun of this Tribunal that in the past a similar criminal tribunal for the former Yugoslavia was also mocked,” said Minister Sikorski in Lviv.

While in Lviv, the head of Polish diplomacy also visited the Cemetery of the Defenders of Lwów.

- “As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two in Europe, I am touched to be standing at the site where Polish soldiers were laid to rest. And at the same time in Ukraine, whose soldiers are fighting against the Russian aggression,” - said Poland’s top diplomat.
