16.04.2025
Minister Radosław Sikorski paid an official visit to Egypt, where he held consultations with the Arab Republic of Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.
The sides reviewed the bilateral relations and exchanged views on the current international situation. Poland’s top diplomat referred to the need for providing security and stability in the regional dimension, both in Europe, where a war triggered by Russian aggression has been waged in Ukraine, and in the Middle East and Africa. He highlighted the comprehensive nature of the challenges threatening the security of Egypt and Europe.
When it comes to bilateral cooperation, both ministers agreed that the existing trade should be boosted and expanded to new areas, such as cutting-edge technology, renewable energy sources, and military cooperation. The diplomats also spoke about bilateral investment cooperation. Minister Sikorski underlined the importance of Polish archaeologists’ engagement in Egypt, lasting since 1937. Additionally, he pointed out that Egypt is one of the most popular travel destinations for Poles.
To wrap up the visit, the chief of Polish diplomacy met with the Polish diaspora in Egypt in the Multicultural and Artistic Space at Qaitbey’s (MASQ). The meeting was accompanied by a ceremony of awarding the Bene Merito honorary distinctions to Agnieszka Dobrowolska and Jarosław Dobrowolski—architects and art restorers engaged in the conservation and restoration of Egyptian monuments, founders of the Archinos architecture firm, established in 2014 in Cairo.
