Minister Radosław Sikorski’s call with Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India

Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski spoke on the phone today with India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The two ministers expressed interest in furthering political dialogue between Poland and India on security matters and on solving regional and global problems in the face of mounting uncertainty and tensions in different corners of the world. Minister Sikorski said in this context that the Ukraine cause is of paramount importance. Minister Jaishankar expressed interest in Poland’s deep expertise in regard to the war in Ukraine and the situation in Eastern Europe.

The ministers also noted that bilateral relations should be strengthened, including in the area of economic and trade cooperation, and that this year’s 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and India may be a suitable opportunity to do so. The two diplomats exchanged invitations to visit Poland and India and indicated readiness to continue dialogue in person on the occasion of multilateral format meetings.
