Minister Zbigniew Rau pointed out that mass attacks on civilian targets make Ukraine’s situation increasingly difficult. “Fighting for European values and Europe’s security, Ukraine needs the West today more than ever,” he emphasised.

The minister noted that Russia should be cut off immediately from its revenue, including by completely disconnecting its banking system, as well as that of Belarus, a country supporting Russia, from the SWIFT system and introducing a ban on importing critical energy raw materials from Russia.

The MFA chief stressed the necessity to urgently deliver humanitarian aid. He pointed out the need for a reflection on ensuring a humanitarian corridor by the international community.

Furthermore, Minister Rau emphasised that the EU must give the Ukrainians hope for a better future. He called for recognising Ukraine’s perspective of EU membership as soon as possible and preparing an ambitious European recovery plan for Ukraine, in line with a proposal by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
