13.05.2021

On 13 May, Minister Zbigniew Rau held a phone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants of the Lebanese Republic, Charbel Wehbe

The talks took place on the initiative of the Lebanese side.

Highlighting the significance of Lebanon in maintaining stability in the Middle East region, the head of Polish diplomacy expressed his support for the country’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. As Minister Rau stressed, a concrete example of Poland’s engagement in this region, appreciated by Minister Charbel Wehbe, is the presence of the Polish Military Contingent in Lebanon as part of the UNIFIL mission.

The Polish top diplomat noted the importance of strengthening Lebanese national institutions and pursuing efforts to establish a new and effective government. He welcomed Beirut’s efforts to host Syrian refugees, declaring that Poland will continue to provide Lebanon with humanitarian aid and development assistance.

Minister Rau underlined that Lebanon is one of our priority countries in the Middle East to receive aid. As the biggest ERI (Economic Resilience Initiative) donor, Poland supports initiatives related to vocational activation and infrastructure investment for all groups in Lebanese society. Acting in solidarity with Lebanon following the Beirut’s port explosion in August 2020, Poland did not hesitate to support the victims.
