The ministers discussed how to further engage the international community in supporting Ukraine to enable it to prevail in the war started by Russia. In this context, they spoke about supplying weapons and military equipment to Ukraine, the continued tightening up of sanctions against Russia, countering Russian influence in European countries, and long-term support for Ukraine. The foreign ministers reaffirmed their willingness to step up contacts and cooperation between Poland and the Baltic states within the EU and NATO.

The officials furthermore discussed preparations ahead of this year’s NATO summit in Madrid. They drew special attention to the need for strengthening Allied deterrence and defence policy, including the military presence at NATO’s eastern flank.
