Minister Rau takes part in videoconference of G7+ foreign ministers

24.01.2023

Held at the US initiative, the meeting centred on supporting the energy sector in Ukraine.

Minister Zbigniew Rau participated in the G7+ meeting on the situation in Ukraine

The event, co-hosted by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and head of Japanese diplomacy Yoshimasa Hayashi, gathered representatives of sixteen countries and organisations, including foreign ministers of some G7+ countries.  During the meeting, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba set out the current situation in Ukraine and the country’s needs resulting from Russian attacks on its critical infrastructure. Poland’s top diplomat underlined that it is necessary to provide further support to Ukraine and recalled Poland’s role as an important logistic hub for channelling assistance to the resistant Ukraine. Minister Rau also mentioned the ongoing reconstruction of the interconnector between Rzeszów and the Khmelnytskyi power plant.

Poland has supported Ukraine’s energy sector from the very beginning of the Russian aggression against that country. The support is coordinated by the Ministry of Climate and Environment in cooperation with the Governmental Strategic Reserves Agency and PSE S.A.
