The priority of the coming session will be to develop strategic solutions to complex and interconnected crises: the war in Ukraine, the COVID-19 pandemic, humanitarian challenges, the threat of climate change, as well as growing concerns about the future of the global economy. Minister Rau will accompany President of Poland Andrzej Duda during the 77th session general debate and in the President’s selected meetings in the margins of the debate.

While in New York, the head of Polish diplomacy will also hold a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts, as well as participating in a meeting of EU foreign ministers with High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in attendance. In addition, the programme of the visit includes a meeting of EU and NATO foreign ministers, organised at the initiative of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, a high-level event on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities, a meeting of the Group of Friends on Accountability Following the Aggression Against Ukraine, as well as a Security Council meeting on the situation in Ukraine. Together with his Canadian counterpart, Minister Rau will also attend an informal MIKTA cooperation format, which brings together some of the G20 countries, i.e.: Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey, and Australia.
