The ministers’ talks focused on political relations between our countries in the bilateral dimension and as part of multilateral cooperation. “We share common values, principles and interests, including the promotion of effective multilateralism based on the global order. These are foundations that should help us make full use of the existing huge potential of our relations. Official high-level visits could provide a strong political impetus for our cooperation in many sectors,” said Minister Rau.

The chief of Polish diplomacy expressed his hope that he would be able to pay a visit to India at the earliest opportunity, provided that the pandemic situation in both countries should render it possible to safely arrange the event. He also confirmed his interest in attending a panel of the Raisina Dialogue international conference that will be held online.

The ministers discussed prospects for the exchange of the highest-level bilateral visits.

They spoke about cooperation between the EU and India in the context of preparations for the EU27-India Leaders’ meeting on 8 May 2021 in Porto. The diplomats also highlighted the great potential for further development of relations within the V4-India format.

Minister Zbigniew Rau outlined Poland’s involvement in the Three Seas Initiative and invited India to consider joining the format. He stressed that Poland actively participates in preparing the EU’s strategy for the Indo-Pacific region while taking account of the growing importance of effective multilateralism both for the EU and for other countries, including India.
