Minister Zbigniew Rau holds phone talk with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Hossein Amir-Abdollahian

18.11.2021

Minister Zbigniew Rau had a phone call with his Iranian counterpart who wanted to personally thank the people and government of Poland for 1 million doses of Astra Zeneca vaccines donated by Poland to Iran.

Rozmowa telefoniczna ministrów spraw zagranicznych Polski i Iranu

Professor Rau underlined the donation was in sign of solidarity with the people of Iran in front of a common challenge. We remain proud about the history of our bilateral relations. We remember Iranian help and hospitality during the World War Two when Iran hosted more than 120 000 Polish refugees. In 2022 we will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of this important historical event.

Ministers also discussed the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border and the use of migrants by the Belarusian regime, as well as the situation in the Middle East and Afghanistan.
