The meeting agenda covered current bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and further measures to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s aggression. Also discussed were preparations ahead of the forthcoming NATO summit to be held in Vilnius on 11-12 July.

“Considering the challenges ahead, our security and defence cooperation is gaining in importance. In this context, the Slovak-Polish cooperation within NATO offers considerable benefits. In our talks today, we have also raised our expectations and future cooperation before the forthcoming NATO summit in Vilnius,” said Minister Rau. “We also appreciate the effective cooperation in the regional formats, especially Slovakia’s very active engagement in the work of the Bucharest Nine,” he added.

The ministers also discussed the construction of a gas interconnector in Strachocina, which is an important element in the North-South regional gas corridor project.

It was the second visit of the new Slovak minister of foreign and European affairs (the first one traditionally being Prague).
