Minister Zbigniew Rau takes part in forum on diplomacy’s support for Polish entrepreneurs abroad

06.10.2023

Organised on 6 October, the event was held in collaboration with the Office of the Governor of Łódź Province and the Polish Federation of Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurs.

Minister Zbigniew Rau wziął udział w forum na temat wspierania przez dyplomację polskich przedsiębiorców za granicą

At the forum “Expansion of Polish companies abroad—the MFA’s experience in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises,” diplomatic services presented the tools and scope of their support for Polish companies operating in foreign markets and possibilities for future cooperation.

In his address, Minister Rau emphasized that effective promotion of Poland’s economic interests requires constant dialogue involving public administration, business associations and entrepreneurs, and that support for Polish business is and will be a priority of Polish diplomacy. “We are making these efforts being aware of the fact that your entrepreneurship helps our country grow in wealth and that the Poland brand is increasingly recognizable on the world’s economic map,” said the head of Polish diplomacy. He added that strengthening the image of our country as a supplier of advanced products and technological solutions is one of the priorities of Poland’s diplomatic activity. “That’s why we are meeting today in Łódź, a city which symbolizes rapid industrial growth and is a home to the Łódź Institute of Technology and universities that prepare students for the demands of modern economy,” said Minister Rau.

In this context, the head of the Polish MFA referred to the agreement signed on 21 September in New York on the establishment of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Warsaw. He expressed his conviction that this will make it easier for Poland’s businesspeople to participate in the UN public procurement system, including the procurement to support Ukrainian reconstruction. At the end of the meeting, Minister Rau declared the Ministry’s openness to the expectations and needs of business and to working together to effectively advance our economic interests abroad.

Also present at the meeting, Deputy Minister Wojciech Gerwel outlined the support tools offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Polish entrepreneurs interested in expanding their operations abroad and encouraged them to contact Polish diplomatic missions.

The forum was attended by business representatives, who highlighted their achievements and shared their experiences of working with the Ministry and its diplomatic missions abroad, as well as by Governor of Łódź Province Karol Młynarczyk, and delegations of business associations: the Polish Federation of Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurs and the Łódź Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
