- Poland and Italy are bound by common tradition, history and ties of friendship. We are satisfied with the state of our bilateral relations and would like to express hope that we can foster them even further, also within the EU framework. We are convinced that, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our governments and parliaments will continue their close cooperation to handle the challenges that our countries and the EU are facing - underlined Minister Rau. The interlocutors also discussed key points on the European and international agenda. The heads of diplomacy underlined the need to pursue and boost the bilateral dialogue due to the fact that Poland and Italy are traditionally close trade partners. Both ministers backed the idea of resuming, following a longer break, Polish-Italian intergovernmental consultations as a valuable tool for tightening multidimensional cooperation between Warsaw and Rome. Minister Zbigniew Rau voiced his hope of strengthening collaboration with Italy in the fields of trade exchange, investment, culture and science. Last but not least, the talks focused on the Eastern policy. The top diplomats assured one another of solidarity in assessing and responding to the challenges the EU neighbourhood is facing, regardless of priorities arising from the geographical location of Poland and Italy.
