NATO hybrid threat experts meet in Warsaw

26.04.2019

"The time for theoretical discussions is over. Today, we're in the middle of a hybrid crisis and we have to tackle it," said Deputy Minister Maciej Lang at the opening of the first meeting of NATO's hybrid threat experts, co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government Centre for Security (RCB).

Held in Warsaw on 25 and 26 April 2019, the workshop was attended by representatives of the Allies, the NATO International Secretariat, and the Helsinki-based European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats.

"Detecting and fighting hybrid activities is a team game. No ministry or country would be able to deal with that task alone," stressed RCB Deputy Director Krzysztof Malesa, who pointed out that cooperation is essential, both between various national ministries and across the borders in the region, as well as trust, which enables rapid exchange of threat information.

The Counter Hybrid Support Team was established by a decision of the NATO Summit in July 2018. The Warsaw workshops provided an opportunity to initiate the team's work.
