On 11 October 2021, a Polish delegation headed by Minister Mariusz Błaszczak took part in a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group member states with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt Sameh Shoukry. Deputy Foreign Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk also attended the meeting. The political consultations between the V4 and Egypt were organised in Budapest by the current Hungarian Presidency.

On 11 October 2021, the Council of the European Union adopted restrictive measures against eight individuals in connection with activities that undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. Included on the sanctions list are Russian judges, prosecutors and services personnel responsible for issuing illegal and politically motivated decisions targeting opponents of the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation. The Council’s decision is a manifestation of the unity and consistent policy of the European Union.

Deteriorating human rights situation, hybrid threats and the accompanying disinformation campaigns, as well as the migration crisis provoked by Belarus were top of the agenda at an informal Arria-formula UN Security Council meeting on Belarus. Organised as a video conference by Estonia with the support of thirty-one countries including Poland, the meeting was chaired by Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs Eva-Maria Liimets.

Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Paweł Jabłoński attended the Second Three Seas Stock Exchanges Conference organised by the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

The undersecretary of state recalled that Poland is currently celebrating the 25th anniversary of its membership in the OECD. He stressed that the OECD’s role as the leading organisation which defines world-class economic standards should be maintained. Moreover, speaking at the anniversary session of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC), the deputy head of the Polish MFA highlighted the role the DAC plays in setting global standards of development cooperation, which are then implemented by donors of development assistance all over the world.

During the Warsaw Security Forum, the chief of Polish diplomacy Zbigniew Rau took part in, among others, a ministerial roundtable on the potential of the Lublin Triangle and a ministerial panel discussion titled “From the Baltic to the Black Sea: unlocking the strategic potential of the region”.

“Challenges in the Eastern Neighbourhood, security and defence, as well as regional cooperation – these are the focal points of the dialogue between Poland and Finland,” stressed Minister Zbigniew Rau during a meeting with Finland’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto. The agenda included bilateral matters as well as regional and global issues.

“I am greatly satisfied with the excellent state of Polish-Turkish bilateral relations and the intensity of visits. It is a proof that we want to raise our political, economic and military relations to yet another level,” said Minister Zbigniew Rau during talks with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
