11.06.2021Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński holds political and economic consultations in United Arab EmiratesDeputy Foreign Minister Jabłoński concluded a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday. Its main goal was political and economic consultations with Ahmed Bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The talks covered developing bilateral cooperation, in particular as regards economic relations, as well as key political issues and the situation in the Middle East.

10.06.2021First political consultations with Afghanistan since 1993Held on 10 June in the framework of the Polish-Afghan political consultations, the talks between Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marcin Przydacz and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Meerwais Nab focused on opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas for both countries. Also discussed was the current situation in Afghanistan and its outlook, in the light of NATO’s decision to terminate Resolute Support mission.

The visit to Germany’s two largest states took place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on Good Neighbourship and Friendly Cooperation between Poland and Germany.

10.06.2021Minister Zbigniew Rau visits RigaThe Thursday visit of the head of Polish diplomacy to the capital of Latvia and a meeting with his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkēvičs provided an opportunity to express the will to enhance partnership and people-to-people contacts between the two countries, especially in the context of two anniversaries that fall in 2021: the centenary of establishing Polish-Latvian diplomatic relations and the 30th anniversary of resuming the relations.

08.06.2021MFA statement on establishing by Belarus a new holiday – Day of People’s UnityThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland expresses outrage at the information that Belarusian authorities have established a new holiday, – Day of People’s Unity – on 17 September. Founding Belarusian political history on the legacy of the Hitler–Stalin pact is utterly incomprehensible. This gesture, in line with Russia’s efforts to reinterpret very difficult history of our region, will seriously hinder Belarusian dialogue and understanding with neighbouring countries as well as all other European countries.

08.06.2021Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński visits EgyptOn 7-8 June 2021, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Paweł Jabłoński paid a working visit to Egypt. He was accompanied by delegations of the MFA, the Ministry of Economic Development, Labour and Technology (headed by Secretary of State Grzegorz Piechowiak) and the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (headed by President of the Board Krzysztof Drynda). The main items on the agenda were political and economic consultations at Egypt’s MFA. The talks covered Polish-Egyptian bilateral relations with special focus on economic relations, cultural, academic and scientific cooperation (including support for Polish archaeologists) as well as current events in the Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East. After the consultations, a Polish-Egyptian visa exemption agreement was signed for holders of diplomatic passports.

08.06.2021Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk visits GermanyOn 8 and 9 June, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk will visit Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia. The German visit will take place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on Good Neighbourship and Friendly Cooperation between Poland and Germany. The purpose of the visit is to draw attention to the need for proper implementation of the Treaty as regards the availability of Polish language teaching for the Polish community in Germany and the representation of the Polish side at bodies which manage memorial sites, as well as to express Poland’s expectation of a prompt launch of renovation effort on the Polish House in Bochum.
