On Wednesday, the capital of Slovakia will host a GLOBSEC strategic conference. Poland will be represented by Minister Zbigniew Rau.

Cooperation between the EU and middle-income countries as well as promoting human development, in particular education and health care, were the main topics of today’s informal video conference of EU development cooperation ministers.

The Polish foreign minister’s meeting with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso was an opportunity to discuss the political directions and strategic areas relevant to Poland’s cooperation with the Bank.

Economic cooperation, bilateral political relations, Serbia’s European integration and regional cooperation were the key items discussed during today’s talks of the heads of Polish and Serbian diplomacies. The Warsaw visit of Serbia’s Foreign Minister Nikola Selaković was also an opportunity to sign the Memorandum of Understanding between the two foreign ministries on the strengthening of cooperation in bilateral relations and a cooperation programme in the field of culture, education and science for the years 2021-2024.

Deputy Foreign Minister Jabłoński concluded a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday. Its main goal was political and economic consultations with Ahmed Bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The talks covered developing bilateral cooperation, in particular as regards economic relations, as well as key political issues and the situation in the Middle East.

Held on 10 June in the framework of the Polish-Afghan political consultations, the talks between Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marcin Przydacz and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Meerwais Nab focused on opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key areas for both countries. Also discussed was the current situation in Afghanistan and its outlook, in the light of NATO’s decision to terminate Resolute Support mission.

On 8 and 10 June, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk visited Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia. The visit to Germany’s two largest states took place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on Good Neighbourship and Friendly Cooperation between Poland and Germany.

The Thursday visit of the head of Polish diplomacy to the capital of Latvia and a meeting with his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkēvičs provided an opportunity to express the will to enhance partnership and people-to-people contacts between the two countries, especially in the context of two anniversaries that fall in 2021: the centenary of establishing Polish-Latvian diplomatic relations and the 30th anniversary of resuming the relations.

On Thursday 10 June, Minister Zbigniew Rau will pay a working visit to Riga at the invitation of Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs.
