Yesterday, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz, on behalf of the Polish President, handed Tomasz Czyszek his nomination to the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Malta.

- Finland is Poland’s important partner both in the bilateral dimension as well as in the context of the cooperation in the Baltic Sea region and the European Union. We highly value the enhanced cooperation with Finland we initiated in 2011 - emphasised the chief of the Polish MFA during his two-day visit to Finland.

“Your successfully passing the diplomatic and consular exam is the best guarantee that you have been well prepared to become members of the diplomatic corps” said Minister Jacek Czaputowicz during the Tuesday ceremony to confer first diplomatic ranks at the MFA Diplomatic Academy.

Minister-Member of the Council of Ministers Konrad Szymański met with Austria’s Minister for the EU Karoline Edtstadler.

This year’s first meeting of the Foreign Economic Policy Advisory Board operating under the Minister of Foreign Affairs was chaired by the deputy MFA head Paweł Jabłoński. The representatives of entrepreneur and exporter organisations, BGK, government agencies, as well as business schools and research institutes met to discuss the promotion of the Polish economy abroad.

On 12-13 February 2020, the chief of Polish diplomacy will visit Helsinki to take part in celebrations marking the centenary of establishing diplomatic relations between Poland and Finland.

“Poland welcomes the choice of priority areas by the Croatian presidency of the EU Council. We will actively support the implementation of goals set by our Croatian friends,” said Minister Jacek Czaputowicz at a meeting with EU ambassadors accredited to Poland.

In Prague, Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk participated in a meeting that gathered ministers for Europe of the Visegrad Group and their British counterpart Christopher Pincher.

“I want to stress that protection of vulnerable groups remains among the priorities of Polish foreign policy. That is why Poland is fully committed to implementing measurable actions to ensure freedom of religion or belief,” said minister Jacek Czaputowicz. The top Polish diplomat took part in the launch of the International Religious Freedom Alliance at the invitation of the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

The ministers discussed economic and trade aspects of future cooperation between Great Britain and the European Union, the approach to security issues, as well as the situation of Poles in the UK and the situation of British citizens in Poland.
