Poland stands in solidarity with Germany and with Czechia following the malicious cyber campaign against their political parties and democratic institutions. Both countries have publicly attributed the responsibility to the Advanced Persistent Threat 28 controlled by the Russian Federation.

On 3-5 May, Minister Radosław Sikorski will visit Washington, D.C., to hold scheduled bilateral meetings with the representatives of US administration and think tanks. The topics to be covered mainly include Polish-American cooperation, including in the area of security, Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, and preparations for this year’s Washington NATO summit.

Today’s meeting, attended by Ministers Radosław Sikorski and Annalena Baerbock, was held in a symbolic place on the borderland between Poland and Germany. Connecting the two countries, the Słubice-Frankfurt bridge served as our gate to Europe for years, while the West itself was a different world for generations of Polish people.

Today’s meeting was a continuation of a humanitarian conference organised by France, Germany, and the European Commission on 15 April 2024, which was held in Paris for the purpose of, among others, raising funds to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Sudan. On that occasion, Poland pledged a contribution of EUR 1 million to humanitarian activities run by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Sudan as part of the Regional Refugee Response Plan.

The event’s name and concept allude to the first meeting of this kind, held at Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw on 1 May 2004.

Addressing the Sejm on 25 April, Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski presented the information on Polish foreign policy tasks in 2024.

Since 2007, Poland has continuously supported Palestine under the development cooperation programme. After 7 October 2023, we have considerably increased our humanitarian aid, by making additional contributions to UNRWA, UNICEF, and the WFP (the World Food Programme), and provided medical assistance to hospitals in Egypt which also treat Gazan patients.

During today’s talks in Warsaw, the diplomats reiterated that security issues and support for embattled Ukraine are among priority areas of Polish-Irish cooperation.

On the sidelines of yesterday’s Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg, the head of Polish diplomacy participated in the EU–GCC (European Union–Gulf Cooperation Council) High-Level Forum on Regional Security and Cooperation.

The ministers discussed the situation in Central and Eastern Europe, focusing on the war in Ukraine.
