In view of the resolution to amend the Treaties, adopted on 22 November 2023, and an institutional reform proposed by the European Parliament, Minister of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk held on 28 November–1 December 2023 a number of bilateral consultations with his European counterparts and other partners from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia and Denmark.

“Belarusian society has every right to live in a free, democratic, and law-abiding country that can independently decide on the direction of its social and economic development. Poland has consistently supported, and will continue to support, the Belarusian people’s aspirations to reach this goal,” Head of the Foreign Service Piotr Rychlik said in his address during a ceremony to inaugurate Diplomatic Studies at the Centre for East European Studies. The venue for the event was the Columned Hall at the University of Warsaw’s Faculty of History.

Poland has been elected to the OPCW Executive Council for the term 2024-2026.

On 29 November, Undersecretary of State Wojciech Gerwel took part in a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council (NUC) at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

In view of reports of large-scale revisions and detentions that took place over the last days in Belarus, the Polish MFA once again strongly condemns any form of repression used by the Minsk authorities against its own society.

On 28 November, head of Polish diplomacy Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk visited Brussels to take part in a meeting of NATO foreign ministers held on 28-29 November.

During today’s swearing-in ceremony of the government of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki at the Presidential Palace, Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, who up to now served as Minister for the European Union, has been appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Due to the situation in the Middle East, this year’s Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean, held on 27 November in Barcelona, was a unique event devoted solely to the conflict in the Middle East.

On 7–22 November, Paris hosted the 42nd session of the General Conference of UNESCO. Poland’s representatives to the event participated in discussions of importance to the country.

While in Brussels on 21–22 November 2023, Head of the Foreign Service Piotr Rychlik met with, among others, the management of the European External Action Service. During the talks, the officials discussed the employment of Polish citizens in the EU’s diplomatic structures. The visit to Belgium was also an opportunity to meet with Polish national experts and diplomats seconded to EU structures.
