Consultations between Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński and Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of International Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain, provided an opportunity to discuss bilateral political and trade cooperation. They focused on the prospects for extending bilateral economic cooperation to new areas, including business services, the fintech sector and other IT uses, medical services, and cyber security. Also discussed was cooperation between defence industries and in the agricultural and food production sectors.

Trade between our two countries has been thriving despite the pandemic, now reaching almost 100 million dollars, while new economic and investment programmes implemented by the two countries are offering new potential for our entrepreneurs. Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 opens up unique opportunities for Polish businesses which have know-how in its priority designated areas - declared Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński.

The deputy foreign ministers also spoke about the current security situation in the Middle East, including in the Gulf, after the reconciliation agreement between the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries along with Egypt and Qatar, the Middle East peace process, the Abraham Accords, Iran, and the future of the JCPOA agreement.

Poland and Bahrain have shared interests as regards major global challenges.  The bilateral political dialogue is held regularly at the level of deputy foreign ministers. Owing to the pandemic, this year’s consultations were held online.
