Brazil and Poland celebrate 100 years of bilateral relations in 2020. The significant community of Polish descendants in Brazil, of nearly 2 million Brazilian citizens, bind together both countries and is at the very foundation of the relationship between Brazil and Poland.

Brazil-Poland relations are firmly based on common principles and values. Brazil and Poland maintain significant historical and cultural ties, and share values such as freedom, democracy and market economy, and are committed to working together for the prosperity of their peoples and the strengthening of their national identities.

The ministers highlighted that Brazil and Poland enjoy a growing presence in the international scene. Both countries agree that international forums and organizations must reflect the will of their member-nations, respecting their identities and thus fostering their sovereign coexistence in the search for peace and prosperity.

Brazil and Poland are deeply committed to religious freedom in the world. The ministers emphasized the importance of the discussions held at the event "Rebuilding Lives, Rebuilding Communities: Ensuring a Future for Persecuted Christians", held in New York in September 2019, on the margins of the 74th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations and expressed their desire to work together to the success of the Alliance for Religious Freedom launched on September 24, 2019, of which they are part.

Brazil and Poland pointed out the importance that the economic and commercial sphere occupies in the context of bilateral relations and noted the need for fully realizing the potential of complementarity of their economies.

Brazil and Poland agree to support agreements that will boost  inter-regional trade promote growth, generate jobs, contribute to modernization of the economy and attract foreign investments.

The Ministers jointly explored possibilities to enhance cooperation in the areas of defense, science and technology and education. They expressed their expectation to celebrate in the near future bilateral acts that will strengthen bilateral cooperation, including in the areas of double taxation, mutual protection of confidential information, social security, culture and sports cooperation.

The Ministers recalled the meeting of the Working Group on Humanitarian and Refugee Issues in Brasilia, as part of the "Warsaw Process" for the promotion of a future of peace and security in the Middle East. They underlined the importance of the Warsaw Process in promotion of peace in the Middle East, and welcomed the decision to include, in the discussions of the Working Group, issues concerning access to education and the protection of young people and children in the context of displacement and humanitarian crises in the Middle East. They underscored the importance of exchanging experiences and of international engagement to promote efforts to avoid the loss of human life as a result of conflicts in the region, at the risk of hampering future reconstruction and peace-building processes. In this context, they also underscored the need to place education and the protection of children at the center of discussions.

The Ministers reiterated that migration issues must be addressed on the basis of national interests and the principle of the sovereignty of States. Although migration is a global phenomenon each country should have the right to take into account its specyfic conditions.

Both ministers refuted the recent attempts by Nicolás Maduro's regime to stifle Venezuela's legitimate National Assembly and reiterated that both Brazil and Poland recognize Juan Guaidó as acting President of Venezuela. They stressed the importance of the entire international community coming together to pave the way to facilitate end of Venezuelan dictatorial regime and the transition of Venezuela back into democracy.
